Tutorial : how do i make my diy long bifold wallet

i have been start working at a fnb company and need to walk a lot. everyday i spent 3 to 4 hours walking around the factory and the rest infront of my pc analysing the data and finishing the reports.
hence, i need everything to be in a just nice size and can fit in my pants pocket. Too little time to do shopping but too desperate for new wallet or purse whatever you called it, is when i decided to made my own long bifold wallet.

i still had a scrap fabric from my last visit to spotlight mines and i decide to match it with my scrap fabric from my twin sister top project.

So, here it is the step by step to make my long bifold wallet.

All you need is,
1. a nice outer fabric (50cm x 50cm)
2. an inner fabric (50cm x 20cm)
3. an interfacing ( hard and medium type)
4. a matching or contrast thread
a ruler/measuring tape, tailors chalk,  a  sharp scissor, bunch of pin, an iron,

First, cut an interfacing according to your wallet measurement. You gonna have three main part that need an interfacing to build texture for your diy wallet.
They are :
 a. the main body ( 1 piece, hard) ( 14.5cm x 16cm)
 b. the money pocket ( 2 piece, medium) (14.5cm x 7cm)
You may change the measurement depends on your preference. I want my wallet to be more or less like my phone so i use this measurement.
three piece of the interfacing

Then, iron the fabric to make your wallet look more neat when it was done.

Pin the interfacing on the fabric and then iron on it. The arrangement should look somehow like below
fold the fabric right side together, leave 0.5 inch on top
The gap between each piece is approximately 1 inch, because it will make an enough seam allowance when we cut them out.

After you iron it, cut them out and you gonna have three pieces of interfaced fabric plus one extra piece of fabric without interfacing (this gonna be the inner part of the main body)

cut two pieces for the main body. one with interface and one without interfacing
three pieces of interfaced fabric plus one extra piece of fabric without interfacing
take the two pocket money side and iron properly on one side horizontally, put the aside.

Take the long fabric ( inner fabric) and focus on them for now.

mark a 4 inch line on the starting and fold them backward. Pin it properly.

mark 4 inch
fold backward and pin it properly
Take a credit card, debit card or medical card in my cases and put n the starting line. The card usually measured 3.5 inch (if you to lazy to grab any card you can use this measurement)

to make the card slot, slowly pull the fabric and cover the card leaving 0.5 inch balance and pin them so that they stay still.

Repeat the same step by placing your card on the second line and pin them altogether again.

You may repeat as many as you can as long as you have enough fabric and the length not exceed your main body measurement (14.5cm). Mark the line 0.5 inch after the last pocket.
i decided for 7 pocket
If you are not sure where to mark the finishing line, try to put on the money pocket piece and you can figure them out.

Cut them into exactly two part with a width of 7cm each. topstich on each of line and the finished one should look like this

Cut another pieces of the same fabric and same saize with the card slot

Sew them right side together on one side like this

Fold the piece backward and iron on it to make it look neat

Sew the card slot on the money pocket  pieces. i dont have a picture of sewn card slot on money pocket pieces. forgot to snap one.
But, you must make sure not sew the card slot and moneypocket pieces on the main body altogether.
After that, arrange them altogether on the main body piece (without interfacing) like this. Pin them.

after that, put the last piece (main body with hard interfacing) on top of everything and sew a U shape like to put them altogether

Cut out all of the four edges and turn them outside out.
topsticth on the open part and you are done!

You can topstitch along the side line but im using a 13 sewing needle and so just dont wanna hurt them. not today, later i guess.
If you have a strong needle and thread you might wanna topstitch because topstitch always make everything look more exclusive. haha

So, now enjoy the satisfaction of diy your own long bifold wallet and regret all the mess. haha

it fit enough for my rm20 note.
